Discounted Heat treating service
Product Details
SERVICE CONDITIONS
- Price includes heat treating & cryo, one base (2hr) temper cycle and one hardness RC test on 25% of the blades per batch order with a minimum of 2 blades tested. Final straightening and tempering to the desired hardness will be the customer's responsibility. Blades will not be straightened by us for this processing price. We will do our very best to prevent bows and warps during processing.
- Our max blade size for this service price is 5" wide and 20" long. Overly large blades like machetes, swords and large choppers are much more time consuming to heat treat. Contact us first before shipping large blades as we are not responsible for return shipping on blades that do not fit this requirement.
- The base price for this service assumes a blade length of 12" or less and a width under 2". Any blades over this will accrue a fee to cover the added stainless foil if required at a rate of 10¢ per square inch of foil used. You will be billed for this and any other charges separately through PayPal.
- There are no refunds once we have started processing your order. We are not responsible for any blade(s) that are lost or stolen while in route to or from us. If your order requires shipping insurance please notify us of the amount required.
- Any overcharges or errors in pricing will be refunded or invoiced upon discovery. And any additions or major changes to a pending order will require a new order to be placed.
- Cracks are very rare and are usually the result of improper grinding technique causing stress risers or a flaw in the material. Grinding an edge too thin before heat treating can cause it to ripple, aka "bacon edge", during the quench or even crack. This is something that is out of our control and we are not liable for.
- It is the customer's responsibility to source steel from a trusted vendor. We will not be held liable for blades that will not harden properly due to shoddy alloy control by the vendor. Its a good idea to stay away from any steel vendor on Amazon and eBay.
- If the surface finish of a blade is courser then 220 Grit, a spot will have to be ground by us onto the blade for hardness testing. Any oil quenched blades will require a ground spot as well. This spot will generally be placed on the tang but may also be done along the blades edge as well if its required.
- Orders will be shipped only after payment is received in full. If payment is not received within 30 days of order completion we reserve the right to take possession of said blades as payment for services rendered.
